Today, perfect weather has graced the area. High 60s, sun, puffy clouds. This means spring hit Tennessee this week full blast, and tulips are out everywhere. Glory seems to be bursting all over in a time of rebirth and change.

Change hit my house this week as well. The day job is gone; today is officially my last day as an employee of Thomas Nelson, although I’ve been home the last two days. I have a cushion of severance and unemployment, so for now, I’m not worried.

What I am is excited. I truly feel God leading me in a new direction, one more totally devoted to Him. To write, to freelance as an editor, to grow as a believer. I plan to work hard, pursue Him, and trust.

Rachel, who turned 22 in March, graduates from school in May, so I will also have more time with her, more freedom to do a few things I couldn’t do with a full time job. I can see His hand in this as well.

TRUST is never easy. It’s not in our “self-reliant” nature, and changing the direction of our lives challenges our sense of security, our desire to cling to things that hold an illusion of security, like jobs and “regular” paychecks. Truth is, only God is secure.

I’ve been here before. I KNOW He provides. Now it’s time for me to really listen.
