What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:9-11
How many times have we heard someone declare, “If I weren’t getting paid, I wouldn’t work at all”? It’s a frustration almost everyone feels sooner or later. When we’re asked to do just one more task, handle just one more errand, oh, and “Mom, I need cookies for tomorrow.” The urge to quit and stare at the stars for a while becomes utmost in our minds.
The more exhausted we are, the hard it is to remember that God has a plan for us and that we are living that plan every day. We are unable to see “the big picture” of our life, what God has in store for us, and how what we do each and every day fits into His plan. Instead, we have to trust in His wisdom and keep on the journey He has set before us. The final reward will be well worth every frustration.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, be with me as I focus on my work. Guide my steps so that everything I do reveals my love for you and my faith in your plan for my life. Amen.

Well…it wasn’t cookies. After spending 4 hours of my evening viewing the dvd to a particular high school that appeals to Nic, filling out applications, preparing 3 sets of recommendation letters that have to go out today, scheduling an entrance exam and finally retiring to bed with a good book at 10:15 pm…there came a knock on my door. “Mom” IT said, “I forgot, I have to write a student resume to go with the recommendation requests. Can you help me?”
He forgot? In the weeks leading up to this application process I hadn’t heard about a student resume. He forgot. During four hours of preparing and organizing and answering questions…HE FORGOT?!?!
You always hit home Ramona. Thank you.

Hey, Ramona! I needed this today! It should say something that I’m a week late in reading it!!! I was just telling Chris how I HATE that every year Christmas seems more and more busy with programs and parties and whatnot. I end up exhausted, as you mentioned, and it takes the miracle of this season away from me. So . . . today I’m telling myself to take a deep breath and enjoy today. Pretty good, eh?
I wanted to let you know that I “tagged” you for this little Christmas questionaire thing. If you want to do it, it’s pretty fun. Just visit my blog and get the details!
Have a great day and a wonderful Advent!
