Thank you to EVERYONE who commented on the cover, either privately or here. Believe me, I’m grateful. The book will be out in September, but I’ll be posting some excerpts here, as soon as I can.

Now….bear with me over the next few days. My air conditioning is out. The inside of the house is around 90 degrees, and I’ve shipped Rachel back to Phyllis’s for the weekend to get her out of it. The service guy will have to order a part tomorrow, so I have no idea when they’ll get it fixed. A complicating factor is that Rachel is supposed to start summer school Tuesday, but I may have to delay her a day. Everything is a bit wait-and-see right now.

Tonight, Crimson and I are going to try to stay cool while I write a bit, then stretch out in front of a fan. And for some strange reason, I got the urge to hear a little John Denver. Maybe a touch of nostalgia for now clear reason…probably left from the days when I would sit on my grandmother’s front porch in the summer (she never had AC to start with) and scribble the first thoughts of the short stories that would be my initial 100,000 words of craft, learning to write as I listened to John and watch the first butterflies of summer flit about in the heat of day.

It would later give rise to the opening of one of my WIPs (see the extended entry, if you’re interested), and was one of my better schools of writing…
