An opinion. An elbow. A chin. A belly button.
You get the picture. We’re all entitled, I suppose. I know I have one. Here’s mine.
God is in control. He is my Lord and my King, and I trust him.
I may not always like what He does or what He allows to happen, but I choose to believe, and I choose to trust.
Life on this side of the veil is seldom easy. We work hard. Politicans we don’t trust get elected. Spouses cheat. Stock markets rollercoaster. Friends and loved ones die. Sometimes trials and problems seem to pile on top of each other until we feel as if we’re going to collapse, as if the world were crashing around us. We get scared. We sometimes lash out. We scream our our opinions, begging folks to follow us, or all will be lost.
No, it won’t.
We may not like the changes we have to deal with, but few things are really going to be as desperate as the opposing sides of this election make it sound. Most people won’t notice any change at all in their day-to-day lives in 2009. As usual, businesses go through cycles – some close, even huge industries that have been around for a century. Others open.
People, however, are resilient. And people of faith have more proven resiliency because we look to the ultimate source of hope.
So vote your opinion. But keep your eyes outward and upward because the bottom line is that the results of a single election do not compare with the results of a single Resurrection.
Pray for your leaders, whoever they may be.
